Can I audition if I am under the age of 18?

In order to audition you must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Can I audition if I am not a US citizen?

You must be legally here in the United States and must be eligible to accept the prize if awarded with unrestricted right to work for any United States employer and live in the United States. Proof of such eligibility must be provided to Producers. Acceptable form of proof includes (without limitation) a valid United States Passport or combination of a valid United States Driver’s License and social security number.

 

If I am auditioning as a duo or trio, should we apply separate or together?

If you are auditioning as a duo or trio, make ONE contestant application.

 

Can I submit a video submission via mail?

No. Contestants must submit a YouTube or Vimeo link of your audition for consideration, targeting the finals in their nearest city.

Is there a list of songs that I have to sing for the submission?

No. Prepare a song that best suits your voice and represents you as an artist.

 

Do I have to submit an original song?

No. Covers are welcome.

 

Can I audition if I am not of African American decent?

If you identify as Black, African American or are of African Heritage, and you are here legally in the United States, yes.

 

Can I audition if I am Canadian, Jamaican or of Cuban decent?

If you identify as Black, African American or are of African Heritage, and you are here legally in the United States, yes.
